1000001 Labs is a Barcelona-based SME that designs and delivers advanced artificial-intelligence solutions for environmental monitoring, citizen science, and inclusive governance. Since 2012, our interdisciplinary team, spanning software engineering, environmental science, data analytics, and social science, has helped governments, researchers, and communities turn complex environmental data into actionable insight.

Track record

  • Citclops / EyeOnWater – €5 M EU project that pioneered citizens’ observatories for coastal monitoring.

Across these and other Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020, and FP7 projects, our staff has coordinated or contributed to over ten European projects, published more than fifty peer-reviewed publications, and nurtured partnerships with leading institutions such as CSIC, CREAF, UPC, URL, and Eurecat.


How we work

  1. User-centred design – We co-design tools with interested parties and actors (IPAs) to ensure usability, relevance, and long-term adoption.

  2. Interoperability by default – All solutions follow open-data principles and align with EOSC, IPCC/UNFCCC standards, and major EU directives.

  3. Ethics and responsibility – Environmental stewardship, social justice, and data privacy guide every project decision.

Founding members remain active as scientific advisors, while emerging leaders drive innovation in generative AI, dashboard visualisation, and community engagement.


Infrastructure

We maintain Andromeda, the world’s first marine-monitoring hackerspace, and a secure cloud environment for high-throughput data ingestion, analytics, and model deployment.
